Nasal surgery, explained in full

Each page describes how the operation is performed, who it suits, what recovery looks like and which risks are involved — without price claims or promises of a fixed result.

Nasal surgery

Revision Rhinoplasty

Surgery after an earlier rhinoplasty — scarred tissue, missing cartilage and altered anatomy make it a longer, more demanding operation than the first one.

Consultations in four languages

Turkish, English, Bulgarian and Russian are spoken in the practice — by the surgeon himself, not through an agency interpreter. For Bulgarian patients in particular, this means the consultation happens in their own language.

How it works

From first message to final check-up

  1. 01

    First contact

You describe what bothers you and send photographs. For patients abroad this first step happens on WhatsApp; nothing is decided at this stage.

  2. 02

    Examination and planning

The nose is examined from the outside and from the inside — the septum, the turbinates and the airway are assessed together with the shape. Goals are discussed over photographs and a plan is agreed.

  3. 03

    Surgery

After anaesthetic assessment and the required tests, the operation is carried out in a fully equipped hospital. Most rhinoplasty patients stay one night.

  4. 04

    Follow-up

The splint and sutures are removed in the first week. Check-ups then spread over months, because swelling settles gradually. Patients who have returned home are followed online.

Common questions

What patients ask most often

Frequently asked questions

How do I start? Do I have to travel to Izmir for a first opinion?

No. The first contact can be made by WhatsApp or e-mail, with photographs and a description of what bothers you. This first step is general information only — it is not a diagnosis and it does not create a doctor–patient relationship. A surgical decision is made only after a physical examination in Izmir.

Which languages can I use?

Turkish, English, Bulgarian and Russian. Op. Dr. Sunay Cafer speaks all four himself, so the consultation, the explanation of risks and the consent conversation happen directly rather than through an interpreter.

How long should I plan to stay in Izmir?

For rhinoplasty, about seven days is usual — arrival and consultation, pre-operative tests, surgery with one night in hospital, then splint and suture removal around day six or seven. Septoplasty alone generally needs a shorter stay. Your own timetable is confirmed after examination.

When can I fly home after surgery?

Most patients are advised to wait until the splint has been removed and the first check-up has been done, which is usually around a week. Flying earlier is sometimes possible but is decided individually, not by a general rule.

What happens at the consultation?

The outside of the nose and the inside of the nose are both examined — including the septum, the turbinates and how the airway behaves on breathing in. Goals are discussed over photographs, the realistic scope of surgery is explained, and a plan is agreed. Nothing is decided in a hurry.
